This is a solid sterling silver large antique fob, hallmarked makers Loveridge & Co., Birmingham 1900. Set with a snake, 9ct gold nugget & hand stamped plaques with the latin phrase "Corvus Serpentem," (meaning "The crow has caught the snake," taken from Aesop's Fables, in which a hungry crow spies a sleeping snake and captures it only to die after being bitten by its prey.) There are some light surface scratches, to be expected on antique and vintage silver items which have been carefully used and well cared for. The pendant is not made from a brand new pieces of silver, any scratches and signs of wear adds to it's character ;-)

The fob pendant measures 7cm excluding bales.

Supplied on a thick real leather plaited 18" brown necklace.

The piece is also hallmarked AWTS (Away With The Spoon,) 925, the lion passant (for sterling silver,) Sheffield Assay Office mark & Z for 2024, together with 375 for 9ct gold.
